Introduction:

Jobirn is another networking platform for people who want to find professional contacts, get a new job or find the perfect employee for their company. This site does not aim at competing with LinkedIn, or other major sites for proffessionals, but wants to help people with technology related jobs to get a fast access to tempting job offers.

Idea

Rating 4.0

The point of this site is to make it easier for both employees and employers to find the right person. Most of the companies that use Jobirn are related to technology industry, so this site will not be helpful for people from other industries, who are looking for a new job.

Functionality:

Rating 4.0

The fast search engine, which allows the user to find jobs in his or her preferred field and location, but unlike other sites, on which the candidate writes an email with his CV, and waits for the reply, here, real time chat and video conferences with people who already work in the chosen company, are available. The creators claim to check the credibility of each recruiter before allowing him to post an advertisement.

Layout:

Rating 2.0

The layout is very clear, without unnecessary fireworks, but also any eye-pleasing gadgets. The creators say, that it's supposed to be useful, not pretty. It may be true, that a site for people on the lookout for professional contacts does not have to be lovely to look at, but I think that many people would miss the nice graphics and gadgets of LinkedIn, if they decided to move to Jobirn.

Summary:

Rating 3.3

Overall, I think this site could be useful, but probably will not take the place of earlier, and better designed professional networking sites.
